Eight Years of Practice for This Exact Moment: How By Their Fruits Foundation Is Feeding Earthquake Survivors

When the ground shook in Venezuela on June 24, the United Nations estimates that 1.8 million people were left needing humanitarian assistance, 680,000 of them children. Hospitals in Caracas were told to double their night shifts. Schools became shelters and donation centers overnight.
That kind of need does not get met by good intentions alone. It gets met by infrastructure, and By Their Fruits Foundation has spent eight years quietly building exactly that.
Since 2018, this 100 percent volunteer-led Orlando nonprofit has distributed over 2,600,000 meals to families across Venezuela, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic. Every box of rice, lentils, and pasta that left their warehouse before this disaster taught them something about how to pack a pallet, route a truck, and get food past a border without losing a shipment. That experience is exactly why, within days of the earthquake, they already had pallets loaded and a route mapped: by land to Miami, then by air to La Guaira and on to over 140 distribution centers across Caracas and the surrounding region.
This is not their first emergency. It is their ninth year of doing this work, and it shows.
Where the gap actually is
The food is ready. The medicine is packed. What is missing is money to move it. Shipping costs roughly $28 per box, and with nearly a full container's worth of pallets ready to go, that adds up fast. They are not asking for clothing right now. They are asking for help getting what they already have onto a plane.
